Answers to common questions about our ABA services 💙

🔬 About ABA Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science-based approach that focuses on understanding and improving behavior. ABA therapy uses positive reinforcement and systematic teaching methods to help children learn new skills and reduce challenging behaviors. It's the most researched and evidence-based treatment for autism spectrum disorder and is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Surgeon General.

ABA therapy can benefit children who have:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis
  • Developmental delays
  • Difficulty with communication or social skills
  • Challenging behaviors that interfere with learning or daily activities
  • Need support with daily living skills
If you're unsure whether ABA is right for your child, contact us and we can discuss whether our services are a good fit — our first meeting will be the initial assessment for services.

We provide services for children ages 2–12 years old. Early intervention is often most effective, but children of all ages can benefit from ABA therapy. We tailor our approach to meet each child's developmental level and specific needs.

Every child's program is individualized. Common areas we address include:

  • Communication: Language skills, requesting, conversational abilities
  • Social Skills: Playing with peers, sharing, taking turns
  • Daily Living Skills: Toileting, dressing, eating independently
  • Academic Readiness: Following instructions, sitting for tasks, pre-academic skills
  • Behavior Reduction: Decreasing tantrums, aggression, or self-injurious behaviors
  • Play Skills: Appropriate toy play, imaginative play
🚀 Getting Started
No waitlist! We're currently accepting new clients and can often begin services within 2–3 weeks of initial contact, depending on insurance authorization timeframes.

Yes, children typically need an autism or developmental disability diagnosis from a qualified professional (psychologist, developmental pediatrician, or psychiatrist) for insurance to cover ABA services. If your child doesn't have a diagnosis yet, we can help guide you on where to seek an evaluation.

Duration varies for each child depending on their individual goals and progress. Some children benefit from intensive services for 1–2 years, while others may need support for a longer period. We regularly assess progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Our goal is always to help your child develop skills that lead to as much independence as possible.

💳 Insurance & Payment

We accept Louisiana Medicaid plans including:

  • UnitedHealthcare (UHC)
  • Louisiana Healthcare Connections (LHCC)
  • Healthy Blue
We handle all insurance authorization and billing directly, so you don't have to worry about paperwork.

At this time, we are focused on serving families with Louisiana Medicaid. We are working to expand our accepted insurance plans in the future. If you have private insurance, we recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about ABA coverage and in-network providers in the Lafayette area.

Most Louisiana Medicaid plans cover ABA therapy with no copays or out-of-pocket costs for families. We verify your benefits before starting services to ensure you understand your coverage.

Yes, we can work with families who prefer to pay privately. Please contact us to discuss rates and availability for private pay services.

🏢 Our Services

We provide clinic-based services at our North Lafayette location. Our clinic offers a structured, distraction-free environment specifically designed for learning, with dedicated therapy rooms, play areas, and all the materials needed for effective intervention.

Treatment hours are determined based on your child's individual needs and insurance authorization. Typical ABA programs range from 10–30 hours per week. Our BCBA will conduct an assessment and recommend the appropriate number of hours for your child.

Your child will work with a Registered Line Technician (RLT) for direct therapy sessions. RLTs are trained and supervised by our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), who oversees your child's program, creates treatment plans, and regularly assesses progress. Your BCBA is available anytime by phone or text, and can schedule a meeting whenever you need to discuss your child's progress or goals.

We are open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We work with families to find appointment times that fit your schedule.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent Involvement

During initial sessions, we often have parents present to help with the transition. As your child becomes comfortable, we typically work one-on-one with them to maximize learning. We encourage parent observation and regularly schedule parent training sessions where you can learn strategies to support your child's progress at home.

Communication is a priority for us! You'll receive:

  • Regular progress reports and data updates
  • Ongoing communication through notes after sessions
  • BCBA available anytime by phone or text, with scheduled meetings as needed to discuss progress, goals, or concerns
  • Parent training sessions to learn the strategies we're using
We believe parents are essential partners in their child's success.

Absolutely! Parent training is an important component of ABA therapy. We teach you the same strategies we use in sessions so you can support your child's learning at home. This helps your child generalize skills across different settings and people.
